While we saw the NSE Sector Indices Performance 2016 in the previous post, $NIFTY being the favorite Index of the traders, we would like to see how did the constituents of the Index perform during the year. We will use the same method of percentage change from open of the 1st trading day of the year to the close of the last trading day of the year to analyze the Nifty 50 Stocks Relative Performance during 2016.
As per the above chart, we can see that Hindalco and Tata Steel gained 84% & 53% respectively which helped the Metal Index outperform the rest of the Sector Indices. Hindalco gained 116% on closing basis at one point during the year which is the best performance among the Nifty 50 constituents & it also remained the best performer at year end.
